Justin Bieber Singing Toothbrush

By Dr. Robert D’Alfonso

If it is hard for your children to instill a teeth brushing habit, there is a new product that will help them enjoy and even want to brush their teeth.

The Justin Bieber singing toothbrush by Brush Buddies has two buttons: one for when you brush your teeth in the morning and one for at night. Each button plays a popular Justin Bieber song, such as “Somebody to Love” and “Love Me”, for two minutes, which is the time we recommend for you to spend brushing your teeth.

It also has a replaceable brush head since we also suggest that you replace your brush every three months. Not only are there toothbrushes, but also floss with Justin Bieber that will encourage your tween to floss everyday like she should.

For your younger children there are other products to help them discover teeth brushing fun. Brush Buddy Talking are tooth brushes with different animals that teach your children step by step how to brush their teeth correctly. The animals talk in a merry voice to your children for two minutes while they clean their teeth. If you would like to get one, Brush Buddies can be found at any drug store and most popular retail chains.

It is vital to your children’s health to get them in the habit of good oral care such as brushing their teeth and flossing. Using these entertaining tools is a perfect way to get them excited about brushing their teeth for the rest of their lives.

Brushing Up

By Anna Wolfe

Stocking oral care products that address consumers’ top concerns will better position grocery stores for increased sales in this billion-dollar market.

Like other segments of the U.S. economy, the oral care market has had its ups and downs. Knowing which product categories are hot, and which ones aren’t, can help buyers create a set that will give them something to smile about.

According to Mintel’s 2011 research, the overall market is almost $3.5 billion and expected to grow to $3.9 billion by 2016. Oral care products that offer multiple benefits, such as whitening toothpaste that is also designed to protect tooth enamel, will continue to drive growth in 2012, according to the Chicago-based market research firm.

Brighter Sales
Highlighting multitasking oral care products can help grocers reach the most active buyers of these products. According to Mintel’s June 2011 Oral Care Concerns report, adults younger than 45, consumers with household incomes of $75,000 to $99,000, and households with children are more likely to be concerned about a variety of oral care issues. And while cavity prevention is the No. 1 concern when shopping for toothpaste, 82 percent of adults 18 to 24 have purchased tooth-whitening products and are also seeking bad breath control, according to Mintel’s research.

Top Consumer Concerns
Very/Somewhat Concerned Percent
Plaque Buildup 70%
Tartar Buildup 69
Cavities 66
Yellowing of Teeth 64
Thinning Enamel 63
Bad Breath 58
Source: Mintel February 2011 survey of 2,000 consumers

Not all segments of the oral care industry are booming. Sales of toothbrushes decreased from $723 million in 2007 to $669 million in 2010. During the same period, sales of floss, tools and accessories — including replacement heads for the popular power toothbrushes — increased 19 percent, from $477 million to $553 million.

Brushing Up With Kids
Brushing teeth is a key part of oral hygiene and helps reduce plaque, tartar and cavities — three of the top oral health concerns. Teaching children the task can be a challenge.

Back in 2002, Brush Buddies, based in Fontana, Calif., launched its talking toothbrush that teaches children to brush for the dentist-recommended two minutes. And according to the company’s research, the talking brush helps extend children’s brush times. In a brushing-time study of U.S. children conducted in January and February, children brushed 63 seconds on average. The same children using Brush Buddies increased their time to 109.2 seconds, a 73 percent improvement.

Last July, the company added the Justin Bieber Singing Toothbrush, which plays two of the pop singer’s songs. The item is an impulse buy, notes Jennifer Reza, Brush Buddies’ director of consumer products: “It’s fun and cute. And at a retail price of $9.99 to $14.99, it’s an affordable purchase for most households.” The Justin Bieber oral care line includes manual toothbrushes, floss, flossers and replacement heads. In its first five months on the market, the toothbrush has had more than $12 million in sales, according to the company.

While the characters appeal to young children, the power toothbrush cleaning ability appeals to parents. Dr. Fresh spokeswoman Bette Light says licensed-character powered toothbrushes are among the company’s best-sellers, such as the Firefly Hello Kitty and new Barbie and Batman Turbo Power Smileguard toothbrushes.

The American Dental Association recommends replacing a toothbrush every 90 days, and promoting this message in-store can drive sales.

Stocking your oral care department with multitasking products, as well as tools and accessories that appeal to your shoppers, can position this category for growth in your stores.

If “U Smile” Makes My “Baby” Brush Then I’m Happy!

I saw this on the market around Christmas time and contemplated getting this for Honey for Christmas but for reasons I can’t remember never picked it up. However after weeks of Honey thinking brushing your teeth is a race and the faster the better I decided to take the plunge. I told her there was a singing toothbrush that would help her know how long to brush her teeth. Not just a singing toothbrush but a “Justin Bieber” singing toothbrush. You know that Bieber guy that all the girls swoon over, including my 6 year old daughter who makes a good impression of googly eyes when you mention his name. I figured if she wanted it and she would brush her teeth for longer then a millisecond I would buy it for her.

We went to our Walgreens which is where I had seen it last and it was no where to be found. On our next trip to Walmart we made it a mission to find it. We looked everywhere, from toys, to toothbrushes, to end caps. Finally we found one lonely little box shoved underneath all the toothbrushes almost out of sight. Despite Honey’s request for black or purple she ended up with yellow. It was yellow or nothing and she decided yellow was better then nothing!

Honey and I now have a fun bedtime routine. Together we listen to Bieber, dance, and get our teeth pearly white. I love that I was able to find something that would connect with my daughter and make brushing fun! Who would of thought a toothbrush could do all that!

So how about you? Have you purchased something for your child that you found ridiculous at the time that ended up being a wise choice?

Musical Toothbrushes Among Items On Display At Housewares Show

CHICAGO (CBS) — At least one of the booths at the International Home + Housewares Show – at McCormick Place through Tuesday – is music to the ears of the 2,100 exhibitors.

As WBBM Newsradio’s Steve Miller reports, visitors to the exposition will hear the 1920s and ’30s-style New York jazz band the Hot Sardines, playing some traditional musical instruments – and some that aren’t so traditional.

For instance, singer Elizabeth Bougerol plays the washboard. And even that is more traditional than some of their instruments.

“Our tap dancer, Fast Eddie, is tapping on some Moso bamboo kitchen boards – cutting boards,” Bougerol said. “I just used one of their wooden bowls as a drum.”

She says the band was surprised at the adaptability of some of the kitchen tools

“The squish funnels that collapse make fantastic plunger mutes,” Bougerol said. “You know how horn players will often use an actual toilet plunger? It has sort of the same shape, the same texture. And it makes a really beautiful sound. I think we may even incorporate one of them going forth.”

Meanwhile, the housewares show also features an innovation that might get some recalcitrant kids to brush their teeth.

Jessica Reza of California-based Brush Buddies was showing off the Justin Bieber Singing Toothbrush.

“What it does is there’s actually two buttons – one for morning and one for night,” Reza said. “Each button will play Justin Bieber’s hit single for two minutes, and so you brush as long as the song’s on, and as soon as the song stops, you’re done brushing your teeth.”

There are two versions of the toothbrush. One plays “U Smile,” the other plays “Somebody to Love.”

Reza says the company worked with Bieber’s mother, who is a dental hygienist.

Justin Bieber Fans Given A Gift For Themselves On His Birthday

Justin Bieber Singing Toothbrush manufacturer invites Bieber fans to create their own new product.

Fontana, CA – Brush Buddies, the makers of the wildly successful Justin Bieber line of oral products announced today, on Bieber’s 18th birthday, that Brush Buddies is inviting his fans to create their own Brush Buddies Justin Bieber Singing Toothbrush; as a gift, of sorts, from Bieber to his fans.

Justin Bieber fans, known as “Beliebers”, have been busy today delivering a number of gifts and tributes to the pop music icon. True to his character, Bieber has been exceptionally gracious to his Beliebers by repeatedly thanking them for their outpouring of support.

Brush Buddies decided to allow Beliebers to create their own gift when the company saw the devotion and giving nature of his fans. “We’ve been involved in many of his fans birthday celebration events domestically and internationally this year,” says Anish Patel, CEO of Brush Buddies. “What they all have in common is that fans are giving Bieber a gift for his birthday. Having done that, we’re also taking the unique approach of gifting his fans.”

Brush Buddies launched their exclusive Justin Bieber Singing Toothbrushes worldwide last summer with two toothbrushes that each feature two of Bieber’s hit songs (Baby/U Smile and Somebody to Love/Love Me) that play for 2 minutes (the dentist recommended time for brushing). The new “Fan Fav’s” singing toothbrush will feature new packaging and a new song combination selected by his Beliebers worldwide via Twitter, Facebook and YouTube; social media platforms instrumental in Bieber’s success and where he ranks as a leading celebrity.

Brush Buddies will credit the new product to all of Justin Bieber’s fans and the fan club whose members contribute the most votes for the new song selection.

The new Brush Buddies “Fan Fav’s” Justin Bieber Singing Toothbrush has already been ordered by a leading retailer in the United States and is expected to be available May, 2012. The product will be sold online at www.brushbuddies.com and www.justinbiebersingingtoothbrush.com.

Brush Buddies also recently announced the findings of the world’s largest study examining the impact of “fun” on tooth brushing behavior among children in the United States. The study revealed:

  • While using a standard manual toothbrush, the children brushed an average 63 seconds.
  • Average brushing times were far less than the commonly accepted goal of 120 seconds (2 minutes).
  • The same children, using a Brush Buddies Talking or Singing Toothbrush increased their average brushing time to 109.2 seconds (1 minute 49 seconds); delivering a 73% improvement.

Entertaining Toothbrushes Increase Brushing Time

Talking and singing toothbrushes make brushing fun and increase brushing time by 73%.

Fontana, CA – February is National Children’s Dental Health Month and marks the completion of a first-of-its-kind study that looked at brushing times of children in the US and how “fun” can influence brushing times.

Brush Buddies , the world’s leading provider of entertaining and educational oral care products, recently worked with a suburban after-school community center to reach 58 boys and girls, aged 7-16 years old. In that environment, each child was provided a standard manual toothbrush from a leading US manufacturer and asked to brush as they normally would at home. Each subjects’ brushing time was observed and noted without their knowledge. One week later, the same subjects were allowed to choose a Brush Buddies Talking or Singing Toothbrush and again had their brushing times observed and noted without their knowledge.

  • The study found that while using a standard manual toothbrush, the children brushed an average 63 seconds.

  • Subjects 7-9 years of age chose a brush from the Brush Buddies Talking line of toothbrushes that included the talking characters. These toothbrushes instruct proper brushing technique in fun animal character voices playing for two minutes.

  • Subjects 10-16 years old chose a brush from the Brush Buddies Singing Toothbrush line featuring Justin Bieber and his hit songs Baby & U Smile or Somebody to Love & Love Me (each brush plays two songs for two minutes).

“We were interested in identifying how ‘fun’ could improve one of a child’s most tedious tasks,” says Anish Patel, Brush Buddies CEO. Patel added, “By eliminating all variables but the toothbrush, we were thrilled to see that our entertaining and educational toothbrushes delivered a 73% improvement in brushing times. As we expand this product line our goal is to reach the adult market.”

Brush Buddies Justin Bieber Floss Product Review

Need incentive to floss your teeth? If removing visible plaque and having healthy teeth and gums is not enough, you need a fun reminder to floss your teeth! Flossing your teeth if very important for your overall oral health and finding a product that works for you is the key to maintaining your health. Any Justin Bieber fans out there? Finally! A fun way to get you or your child to floss your teeth!

It’s beautiful! The Justin Bieber floss! You may even want to pick up several for collector purposes and for flossing your teeth! A great way to decorate your bathroom! And a great reminder to floss your teeth. The 55 yard floss is waxed but not scented. The floss was somewhat smooth but was thicker than I prefer. The gaps in my teeth are very small and I have a few overlapping bottom teeth so I need really thin floss. I was able to maneuver the Justin Bieber floss throughout my teeth but I will probably go back to my thin, minty floss that I use on a regular basis. Great gift for the kids and Justin Bieber fans! Goes great with the Justin Bieber toothbrush!

Fans will give back to Justin Bieber through charitable song

Beliebers unite to make a single for the generous pop star

Yes, Justin Bieber is loved for his dreamy vocals and adorable baby face that make girls, and even grown women, go weak at the knees, but he is also admired for giving back. In honor of his charitable work, the pop star’s fans have recruited the non-profit organization Together We Rise and the company Brush Buddies to prepare a charity single for his birthday this March.

The President/CEO of Together We Rise, the non-profit that aids foster children nationwide, explained to MTV how a single fan got the ball rolling on this project. “It started with a young lady named Vivian, she runs the Justin Crew fan club and she approached it on Twitter. She approached it and she had a lot of fan support,” he said.

Together We Rise received a great deal of recognition after the singer promoted the organization to his enormous fan base via Twitter. “Justin Bieber inspired a lot of young people to give back. It’s a ‘thank you’ for helping us and we want to give back in your honor,” the CEO said.

The single will feature videos from fans expressing their gratitude towards Bieber. He has inspired so many young girls and boys to be socially conscious, go after their dreams, and “Never Say Never”.

Even if you are not a Belieber, you can’t deny that this 18-year-old has a heart of gold and strong morals. Bieber founded the Believe charity drive that received part of the proceeds from his Under the Mistletoe album released this past November. He encouraged his fans to get into the holiday spirit by donating to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Pencils of Promise, Musicians on Call, Project Medishare for Haiti, City of Hope, the Boys & Girls Clubs of America and the Grammy Foundation.

The Canadian created a media frenzy last week when he helped a young fan awaiting a lung transplant spread the importance of becoming an organ and blood donor. He tweeted, “i got the word….you have amazing strength. i got u. #BeAnOrganDonor.”

According to MTV, Bieber increased donations to Ontario’s Trillium Gift of Life Network by 1,200 people by simply typing less than 140 characters on the social media site.

Proceeds from this fan-created song will be given to the heartthrob’s Believe charity drive. When celebrating the teen sensation’s birthday this March, also take the time to celebrate his remarkable charitable efforts by listening to this upcoming single!
